Chapter 7 - Rabbit vs Bull

Mirko had been a hero for 3 years, and she couldn't complain that it had been a rush. Today, she was fighting some common thugs when she received a call to help secure an area where, supposedly, a powerful villain was hiding out. A bunch of heroes tried to engage this formidable villain, but they could do nothing against him. Eventually, All Might was the only one who could fight him, so it became a one-on-one confrontation. Most of the other heroes were busy taking care of the henchmen, but Mirko watched the two powerhouses brawl; it was a fight that should be remembered for generations. She looked around, expecting to see helicopters and news crews broadcasting the apocalyptic battle to the world, but there were none to be seen. As she glanced over at the other observers, she locked eyes with the hero Night Eye, All Might's sidekick. He looked worried, almost panicked, periodically glancing down at the shorter hero next to him. She believed his hero name was Gran Torino. Explosions and shockwaves continually shook the battlefield. Finally, a huge explosion threw everyone back, rolling across the ground and slamming into whatever would break their momentum. There, All Might stood victorious over his beheaded foe, bleeding profusely from a huge wound in his side.

The trip to UA was like a blur; she could barely remember anything about it. Heroes were yelling at each other, freaking out about the number one hero's injuries. Why were they not taking him to a hospital instead of to the biggest hero school in the country? One reason was they didn't want it to be politicized that All Might, the number one hero, was injured, and the other was that Recovery Girl was at the school. She had one of the best healing quirks in the world, so if anyone could fix All Might, it was her.

Mirko was thrilled when Nezu asked the heroes to search for an out-of-control student. She was really bored sitting there. The HPSC had asked her to act as a guard, but that was dull, and the other heroes' useless chatter was getting on her nerves. She raced down the hallways of UA, following the footprints embedded in the concrete floor, which eventually led her to the front door.

There, a small giant had just ripped the door off the building and chucked it behind him, coincidentally smacking into her. Getting up from being pancake'd by a door, Mirko dashed toward the student. Already feeling a little upset, she decided she would teach this kid a lesson and beat the crap out of him. For a starting move, she opted for a running drop kick. That's exactly what she did—she drop-kicked that kid straight into the UA barrier.

That was Mirko's first mistake of the day. The moment she touched the student's skin, she felt her strength being sapped from her body, as if it had been divided in half. In fact, that's exactly what happened. She could feel it—her reaction speed, physical strength, and senses—everything was weaker; she was weaker.

As Mirko began to recover from her predicament, the student she had kicked—embedding him into the UA barrier—pulled himself out of the wall. As he did, his body increased in size, and his horns lengthened. Faster than Mirko could track, he rushed toward her, slamming his horns into her gut and smashing her through the wall of UA.

The giant, now no longer small, backed away from his opponent, seeming to study her condition. But Mirko didn't give him that chance; she pulled herself out of the rubble and launched a furious series of attacks against the horned student. As she continued her onslaught, she noticed her opponent adapting and trading blows with her instead of just taking hits.

By this point, other heroes were catching up, and several random heroes attempted to intervene and restrain the large student. However, the same fate that had befallen Mirko struck them as well: their strength was halved, and the giant grew larger, faster, and stronger. He even seemed to possess a sixth sense, sensing when heroes approached him.

Every hero that came to support Mirko from that moment on was more of a liability than an asset. Each time an attack hit the giant, the heroes' power diminished.

Despite the chaos, Mirko observed a few crucial details during the fight: first, the ability only worked once per person. Once their stats were divided, they would never be divided again. Second, all the strength siphoned from the heroes was being transferred to the giant. This meant that, in a battle of attrition, she and the heroes fighting this giant were destined to lose.

Night Eye and Gran Torino watched the chaotic battle from the sidelines. Every once in a while, Torino would rush into the fray, picking up fallen heroes and bringing them to safety. Currently, the only hero who truly belonged in the fight was Mirko, but no matter how many times she shouted for them to leave it to her, the heroes wouldn't listen. Night Eye was torn between frustration and concern; it seemed like a mix of pride and stupidity was driving their stubbornness, and it was only making matters worse.

Taking out his phone, Night Eye contacted Nezu. "Can I get some information on this student and why he's destroying the school and fighting heroes?"

He waited for a response, glancing over just in time to see a hero get punted through a third-story window.

"Well, you see, this student is special. He has a condition that makes him very unstable in stressful situations, so I don't have much information on this current Quirk," Nezu replied with an air of excitement and aloofness.

"Current Quirk? Don't tell me we have another... you know who?" Night Eye stared blankly at the giant.

"No, no, nothing like that. This student isn't technically a UA student but a personal student. His Quirk seems to use his mental disorder as a catalyst for its manifestation. Whenever the boy is in a stressful situation, he gets a new Quirk. Granted, he can't use them all at once; he can only utilize one at a time. But it's still interesting, wouldn't you say?"

Night Eye's eye twitched as he watched the giant throw highly trained heroes around like dolls.

"Anyway, I'm sending his mother over to calm him down. But be ready; this is the first time this Quirk has manifested, and we don't know if it will be more volatile than the others."

Night Eye nodded, determination set in his gaze.

By the time Inko arrived, the battle had devolved into a one-on-one clash: Mirko versus the horned giant.

Mirko flipped through the air, positioning herself to deliver an axe kick to the top of the giant's head. But just before impact, they both heard a voice shout, "Izu, what are you doing!"

This distraction didn't faze Mirko; she wanted to finish the fight. Fueled by adrenaline, she committed to her strike.

But it seemed to affect the giant. His eyes hardened, and his arm moved faster than Mirko could react, smacking her across the front yard of the school and slamming into the UA barrier right next to where she had embedded the student earlier.

Slowly, the giant approached the little green-haired woman. Now standing over 2 meters tall, with horns at least 3 feet in length, the giant was an intimidating figure.

Mirko pulled herself out of the wall and rushed towards the giant again. But before she could get close, he turned towards her and rolled back, raising his roar to the heavens. He seemed to be communicating his dominance over the heroes. Gradually, the giant began to shrink, decreasing in size until he was as tall as he had been at the beginning of the fight, before anyone had touched him.

"Mommy..." the big bull began to cry, sitting on the floor. Inko slowly approached him with gentle steps. Sitting next to him, she asked, "What's wrong, dear?" The boy looked at her before saying, "I woke up inside, and everything was shrinking, so I tried to find you, but then she kicked me." He pointed at Mirko, who was super confused. "And... and... people started hitting me, so I beat them up, and now I'm tired, Mommy!"

Inko looked down at him before asking in a small voice, "Hey, baby, can you tell Mommy your name? Mommy is silly and forgot." The boy looked at her before giving her a watery smile. "I'm Asterios, Mommy. Remember, I'm your big monster," Asterios said with a silly grin.
