We drove for hours, the scenery outside the window changing from city streets to rolling hills and countryside. I was starting to feel a little anxious, unsure where we were going or what would happen when we got there.
Sophia seemed to sense my unease, reaching out to pat my hand reassuringly. "We're almost there," she said. "Just a little longer."
I nodded, taking a deep breath. I was determined to stay calm and see this through.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Sophia turned the car down a small dirt road. We bounced along the rough surface, the trees growing closer together until we were surrounded by a dense forest.
The car stopped in front of a small cabin, nestled among the trees. Sophia turned off the engine and turned to me.
"We're here," she said. "This is the safe house."
I nodded, getting out of the car. The cabin was small, but it looked sturdy and secure. I could see that it was surrounded by a high fence, topped with barbed wire.
Sophia led me inside, showing me around the cabin. It was simply furnished, but it had everything we needed. There was a small kitchen, a living room, and two bedrooms.
I was impressed. "This is great," I said. "But how did you find it?"
Sophia smiled. "Let's just say that I have my ways," she said. "This cabin has been here for years, but it's been kept off the grid. It's the perfect place for us to hide out."
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. I was safe, at least for now.
But as I looked around the cabin, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. I glanced at Sophia, but she seemed oblivious to my concerns.
"Hey," I said. "Do you think we're really safe here?"
Sophia's expression turned serious. "I've taken every precaution," she said. "But we can't stay here forever. We need to come up with a plan to deal with The Order."
I nodded, feeling a sense of determination. I was ready to face whatever lay ahead.
But as we sat down to discuss our plan, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were running out of time.
