Fell let out a small sigh. "Well whatever, let's finish your quest"
Asts smiled and quickly packed up his stuff, he adjusted his glasses and smiled at Fell. "Follow my lead, I hope you can protect me since we may encounter quite a few amount of slime on our way"
Slimes?. Fell pondered for a bit, was their destination close to the slime dungeon, she thought about going there when she saw the sign yesterday but she is currently weak and does not really know what her cards her. "Lead the way boss"
Asts smiled and lead the way out of the tow, the guards gave them a nod as they left. Soon the two entered the forest, Fell looked around the forest, feeling a sense of familiarity which is probably from yesterday's major events.
Asts was scouting the forest for movement and also stared at the girl curiously, her orange hair and eyes made her stand out and also that cute looking face of hers that would make even fairies a bit jealous, but he wasn't interesting in all that, why would she even accept his request, he was grateful of course. " You know you could have chosen other easier quest's like collecting herbs and sorts, why choose a newbies request"
She raised an eyebrow in confusion, why was he asking her this sort of question. "My class requires me to go out into the field and manually collect materials, I can't advance it without knowing my skills or using them, Beast tamers capture monsters and raise their levels through training and bonding with their captured beasts, I kill beasts and have a chance to steal some of their essence to create cards I can use to fight"
At her explanation, Asts found her reasoning good and he found someone who could relate to him. "That's great, People like us don't usually get into parties early on because of out troublesome skills and how hard it is for us to catch up, we have to take our own time"
Fell smiled a little, he was enthusiastic which is good for him, Fell continued to maintain a conversation with the young man, they talked about normal things like hunting and quests and also their future goals, Fell sighed.
"Goals, huh, I don't really have any, I just want to survive as long as I can"
Asts nodded his head in understanding. "You are still young little Fell, you have a long time to figure out what you want your goals to be."
Fell snorted at that. Young? Sure, her body was, but in reality, she was just a guy stuck in the avatar of his joke character. If anything, she was still adjusting to how people treated her now—like some greenhorn kid instead of an experienced player who had once min-maxed his way through the system.
Still, there was something oddly comforting about the way Asts spoke. Even though they'd only just met, he talked to her like an equal, like someone who understood the struggles of starting with a class that didn't fit the usual mold of adventurers.
Fell stretched her arms behind her head, giving him a sideways glance. "What about you? Any big dreams, oh future master beast tamer?"
Asts chuckled, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. "Yeah, actually. I want to tame a Legendary Beast one day. Something no one else has ever managed. Maybe even one of the Guardian Beasts of the capital."
Fell let out a low whistle. "Ambitious."
"Hey, if I don't aim high, I'll just be another no-name tamer scraping by with basic summons. I don't want to just exist in this world—I want to leave a mark." His expression softened slightly, eyes drifting toward the sky through the gaps in the trees. "But before any of that, I need to survive long enough to get stronger."
Fell hummed in understanding. She could respect that kind of thinking. It wasn't much different from her own in the end—just trying to make it day by day without getting crushed by the weight of this new reality.
Their conversation was cut short when the rustling of underbrush snapped their focus back to the present.
Asts came to an abrupt stop, raising a hand. "Hold on."
Fell tensed, following his gaze.
Slimes.
Three of them, jiggling unnaturally as they slid across the forest floor. Their gelatinous bodies gleamed faintly in the patches of sunlight breaking through the canopy.
Fell exhaled, loosening her stance. She placed a hand on her deck and said.
[Draw Card-Skill]
A skill card available in the deck appeared in her hands, it was the first time she was using this class for the first time since yesterday.
[Card Shuffle]
[Description:Throw the card and it will multiply into smaller mana cards that attack the enemy with sharp precision, a basic skill card of the card master class, the amount of cards released depends on the number of enemies and your mana capacity]
The information appeared in her mind instantly.
Without any words, she flicked the cards towards the slimes and mid flight they seperated into three orange glowing cards that pierced into the slimes body and broke their cores.
The slimes stoped and then slowly melted into the ground, a card was left behind by one of the slime that immediately flew into her deck.
[Card Skill Blueprint-Slime Body]
[Description: A passive card skill created from absorbing the essence of a basic slime. When equipped, grants slight resistance to physical attacks and minor regeneration over time. Can be upgraded by absorbing more slime-type monsters.]
[Card Materials required: 1x Slime Core, 5x Mana Shards]
Fell blinked as the blueprint information settled into her mind. That wasn't bad for a first pull. Passive skills like this were the bread and butter for survivability, especially early on.
Asts whistled low. "That… was impressive. I've never seen a class work like that before. It's kinda like a mage but also… not?"
Fell shrugged, trying to hide the small grin creeping up her face. "It's unique. My class is called Card Master. Think of it like a hybrid between a summoner and an enchanter. I collect essence, create skill, debuff and buff cards, and draw from them in battle. But I gotta make my deck from scratch."
Asts fixed his glasses as he pondered over her words. "I see...so you really are part of the Drawn family in the eastern continent, I heard they had strange abilities but this is indeed impressive"
Fell froze, what does he mean by Drawn family, that was something she created for the lore of this specific character and if it's actually true...then she is screwed.
A long time ago, Fall was bored playing a card master in Vel'Draeth and decided to write some lore about his joke character, Fell.
[Across the boarders of this land lay a continent filled mysterious secrets and bloodlines, Deep within this land lay a huge city, no it was a compound belonging to the Drawn family, Princess Fell Drawn, Vessel of the Six Demons that came from the stars was bored of staying in this lame place, she wanted to go to the other continents and experience growth and adventure, but her elders refused. The Drawn bloodline was one of the most feared in the eastern continent, their abilities tied to the mysterious forces of the Six Demons who descended from the void beyond the stars. Every heir was bound by the family's legacy—to wield the Deck of the Ancients, a grimoire containing hundreds of lost cards with unfathomable power. But Fell? She had no interest in being a princess shackled by tradition. She wanted to be free, even if it meant discarding her heritage and venturing into the unknown while the demons were sealed within her body. ]
Fell's stomach dropped.
That was just something Fall had written as a joke. A dumb piece of background lore he made up for fun, never expecting anyone to actually care about it. But now, here was Asts, casually referencing the Drawn family as if they were real.
If this world was truly built off the lore he had once written… then that meant—
I'm actually Fell Drawn? The same Fell Drawn who was supposed to be a runaway princess carrying six sealed demons inside her?
Her mind raced, trying to remember the finer details of the lore. The Drawn family was supposed to be ridiculously powerful, feared across the eastern continent, and their bloodline carried strange abilities linked to an ancient deck of forgotten cards. But in the backstory, Fell had abandoned all that, running away to seek freedom, which explained why she started at Level 1 with nothing.
Had she—had he—actually created an entire bloodline with influence in this world?
Asts was still watching her, waiting for a response.
Fell forced a laugh, scratching the back of her head. "Well, I kinda ran away so they might be looking for me already."
Asts saw she felt uncomfortable when he mention that. "Let's go, we can stop talking about these things, you look uncomfortable"
Fell gave him a quick nod, grateful for the shift in conversation. She didn't have enough information yet, and thinking too much about the implications would only make her paranoid. One thing was clear, though—if the Drawn family was real, then someone, somewhere, knew about her. And if their lore was anything like what Fall had written, they were probably looking for her.
As they continued deeper into the forest, the sounds of rustling leaves and distant animal calls filled the silence. Fell kept an eye on her deck, wondering what other blueprints she could unlock. If she really was Fell Drawn, then the six demons inside her might be more than just a joke detail. Were they real? Dormant? Would they wake up one day?
She shook her head. Focus on what's in front of you.
The two stopped when Asts saw a strange scene, backed to a tree was a two horned black horned wolf surrounded by bouncing slime slowly moving towards it. "Huh, didn't they only have one horn also why are the slime surrounding it."
"it looks like it got kicked out of it's pack. can you take care of the slimes so I can start taming it" Asts asked the small girl politely.
Fell nodded, stepping forward as she pulled another card from her deck. She focused on the sensation in her fingertips, the subtle tug of mana activating her class skill.
[Draw Card -Debuff]
[Mana Drain]
[Description: It gives the status effect, Drain, this skill slowly saps the mana of a being that has lower mana than the caster, when used on magic based entities their mana slowly depletes and they will leave behind their mana vessel]
Fell flicked the card forward, and in an instant, a translucent, orange-glowing seal formed beneath the slimes. The effect was immediate— the creatures quivered unnaturally, their once fluid-like bodies shuddering as the glow of their cores began to dim.
The slimes tried to advance, but with each wobbling movement, they grew sluggish, their forms shrinking as if their very essence was being drained away.
Asts watched in fascination. "That's… actually kinda scary."
Fell smirked. "Yeah? Imagine being on the receiving end of it."
Within moments, one of the slimes completely withered, its gelatinous form dissolving into faint blue mist. A tiny crystalline object—the slime's mana core dropped onto the ground.
The remaining slimes shuddered before popping like bubbles, leaving behind small mana shards that immediately floated toward Fell's deck.
[Card Material Acquired:1xSlime core, 2x Mana shards]
Asts wasted no time, stepping forward to kneel near the injured black-horned wolf. It growled lowly, wary of his approach, but its legs trembled under its weight. It wasn't in any condition to fight back.
Asts reached into his bag, pulling out a small vial of green liquid. "Alright, buddy. Let's get you patched up before we talk."
Fell watched with mild interest as he worked. Taming wasn't just about forcing a beast into submission—it was about forming a bond, proving that the tamer could be trusted. That was something she had never really paid attention to before, but now, seeing it firsthand, she could appreciate the effort.
The wolf's ears twitched as Asts uncorked the vial and gently poured a few drops onto its wounds. The creature flinched, but the healing properties of the potion took effect almost immediately. Its breathing steadied, the tense muscles loosening ever so slightly.
"See?" Asts murmured. "I'm not here to hurt you."
The wolf's yellow eyes locked onto him, calculating. It was still cautious, but the fight in its gaze had softened just a little.
Fell crossed her arms. "So? How do you actually tame it?"
Asts chuckled. "There are a few ways. The easiest is when a beast is willing to form a contract—usually when they respect or trust the tamer. But when that's not an option…" He pulled out a small, glowing sigil stone. "…I use a taming seal. It forces a temporary contract, and if the beast accepts, the bond becomes permanent."
The wolf snarled at the sight of the stone, sensing its power. Asts sighed. "Yeah, yeah, I know you don't like this, but it's just to start things off. If you don't want to stay with me, I won't force you." He placed the sigil stone on the ground between them. "Your choice."
Fell tilted her head. "You're really giving it an option? What if it just runs?"
"Then that means I wasn't meant to be its tamer." He smiled. "But I have a good feeling about this one."
For a few tense moments, the wolf didn't move. Then, slowly, it lowered its head, pressing its snout against the sigil stone. The glow intensified, swirling around the creature before fading into its body.
Asts grinned. "See? Told you I had a good feeling."
The wolf let out a quiet huff, then padded forward to stand beside him. It wasn't exactly affectionate, but it wasn't hostile anymore either.
Fell raised an eyebrow. "So now that you are done, My five silver and the extra you promised if I helped with the capture, we can do that in the Adventurer's guild"
Asts laughed, shaking his head. "Alright, alright. I'll pay up once we're back. A deal's a deal."
Fell smirked, satisfied. She wasn't about to let herself get scammed out of the reward, even if she did find the whole taming process kind of interesting.
The newly tamed wolf—who still looked like it was debating whether or not to bolt—huffed and sat beside Asts. Its piercing yellow eyes studied Fell, it then slowly stood up and walked up to Fell.
It then licked her and then the wolf stood there with it's tongue out.
Fell blinked, frozen in place as the wolf's rough tongue swiped across her cheek. She could still feel the warmth of its breath as it pulled back, standing there with its tongue hanging out, almost… expectantly.
Asts chuckled. "Looks like you taste acceptable."
Fell shot him a flat look, but before she could say anything, the wolf huffed again, shaking out its fur. Its sharp yellow eyes remained locked on her, studying her in a way that made her uneasy. Then, as if making a decision, the wolf pressed its nose against her hand.
The sudden warmth startled her. Its fur was coarser than she expected, wild and unkempt, but it wasn't as harsh as she feared. Slowly, she turned her palm upward, letting it sniff her fingers. The wolf's ears twitched, then it abruptly nudged her hand, forcing her to pet its head.
"Oh," she muttered, caught off guard.
Asts chuckled. "It's thanking you for getting rid of the slimes...but I did not get thanked fore healing him huh"
Fell smirked, scratching behind the wolf's ears as it leaned into her touch. "Guess you're just not as memorable."
Asts placed a hand over his chest, mock-offended. "Unbelievable. I save its life, and it's acting like I'm just some background character in its story."
The wolf flicked an ear in his direction but didn't even bother looking at him. Instead, it sat beside Fell, tail slowly sweeping across the dirt, content in its new spot.
Fell laughed, the situation making her almost forget about the whole lore problem.
