The Scout Division Headquarters—Sector C
The Scout Division Headquarters consisted of three different floors, each used for different things within The Scout Division. The third floor consists of Kentoya's room, his sergeant's room, and a matted training room.
Kentoya was found meditating in his room, his soul flaring around him like a gentle breeze. Its light blue color gives a hopeful and friendly feeling as he continues expanding it. However, as it begins to expand more and more from his body, his body begins to shake from stress.
However, he continues to push, stretching his soul as far as he can push, and as he begins reaching a new height, a sudden, abrupt noise breaks his concentration.
Kentoya's door is ripped open as a loud Sentarii sergeant barges into his room.
"Captain! Are you trying to give yourself soul sickness?!" The sergeant shouts as he rushes into the room.
Kentoya opened his eyes in disappointment, gently turning around to look at his rude sergeant.
"Surashi, how many times have I told you not to barge into my quarters like a total ape?!" Kentoya exclaims as he stands up and shuffles over to his Surashi.
"-And how many times do I need to stop you from trying to cause yourself Soul Sickness?!" Surashi remarks back.
"I've told you a million times, I'm not trying to give myself Soul Sickness! I'm expanding my soul to control it better!" Kentoya snaps back as he pinches the ridge of his nose.
"Isn't that the number one reason most Sentarii get Soul Sickness?" Surashi questions as he stands with his arms crossed.
Kentoya looks up slowly with disappointed eyes once again.
"If you studied like I told you to, you'd know that it can enhance the Shuzen abilities!" Kentoya insisted as he leaned forward with his hands ready to wrap them around Surashi's neck.
Surashi, however, stood there with his eyes looking up at the ceiling, shoulders shrugged and hands out, his palms aimed at the ceiling as his tongue peeked through his lips. His white hair, covering his expressive eyebrows.
"At least tell me you did what I told you earlier." Kentoya asked in anticipation.
"Uh, you wanted me to organize the training room, right?" Surashi asked with confidence.
"No..."
"Oh, was it telling the new recruits to clean the bathrooms?!" Surashi once again asked with confidence.
"No, again!" Kentoya shouted back.
"Then it was definitely, uh, yeah, it was surely... Yeah, no, I forgot." Surashi chuckled awkwardly as he began rubbing the back of his head.
Kentoya feels rage fuel him as he slowly reaches for a broom he has stashed in his room.
"Oh! Did you want me to sweep the floors?!" Surashi guessed once more as Kentoya raised the broom above his head.
Before bringing it down onto Surashi like a hammer. Knocking him onto the ground in an instant. Kentoya is standing above him as he holds his hands on top of the broom.
"Surashi, do you remember what I asked you to do earlier?" Kentoya questioned once more, his eyes putting daggers into Surashi's twitching body.
"Y-You wanted me to take the new recruits through today's training course." Surashi stammered as he tried to recover from the brutal attack.
"Ah, there it is! Just needed a little memory jog, didn't you, Surashi? HA, HA, HA!" Kentoya laughed as he slapped Surashi's back hard repeatedly.
Each slap echoing through the halls to the lower floors.
The Scout Division Headquarters—First Floor
Kentoya and Surashi stand side by side with all the newly recruited senior wardens from the graduation event. Surashi was still teary-eyed from the discipline Kentoya gave him moments ago.
"I apologize for my sergeant's behavior! He can be a bit of a dunce!" Kentoya expresses as he eyes Surashi.
"I-I'm sorry, new recruits! I was supposed to lead you guys through the training course today, but I flunked my responsibilities! For that I am truly sorry!" Surashi apologized with his head bowed to the new recruits.
The recruits are whispering about their concerns and disbeliefs about Surashi's status. "Is he really the scout sergeant?" "If he's in that spot, then it must be easy to fill." "That spot's going to be mine for sure." Kentoya's eyes grew sharp before he exhaled and closed them softly.
Kentoya quickly jabs his sheathed sword into the ground, making an abrupt sound that instantly captures the chatty recruits.
"But that goes without saying! Surashi's status is well earned! His position was not earned through luck or lineage. He fought and trained hard to get to where he is, and to put it into perspective, he could certainly take on every one of you all at once. That is why he is next in line for The Scout Division Sentinel! So from this point on I will not tolerate disrespect to my sergeant." Kentoya lectured as he stood with strong and respectful eyes.
However, that was quickly cut short as Surashi leaped at Kentoya with tearful eyes.
"Sentinel Kentoya!!" Surashi sobbed in joy as he wrapped around Kentoya.
The recruits instantly going back to their disbelief of his stature.
"Surashi... Surashi! Enough!" Kentoya demanded before instantly delivering another hammering blow, this time with his fist.
"Since the time has passed, you recruits will begin your training tomorrow! As you know, as scouts, we must be hidden, alert, and prepared! That's why your training will consist of three subjects! Stealth training! Information Gathering Training, and lastly! Soul control training!" Kentoya expresses, causing the recruits to feel an unease after hearing about their curriculum.
"If you feel that isn't enough for you, I do offer training in kendo and Shuzen; being well prepared can come in handy after all. You will be learning under me for those as well as Surashi. The training will be intense, you will want to quit, and I assure you. You will regret your choices. But if you make it to the end, you can earn your title as a Scout Division Member. So with these final words, you're dismissed!" Kentoya tapped his sword against the ground again, causing his recruits to disperse.
Kentoya watches as everyone leaves before leaving himself. While Surashi is still unconscious on the ground from that brutal attack,.
