Chapter 15 - Chapter 015

"What are you doing in here?" He growled lowly, his eyes narrowed in Sofia's direction. The latter got up, visibly shaking.

She stuttered, trying to find the right words to say, but none came out.

"Don wants to see you now," he ordered, irritated by her silence.

Sofia's eyes widened. She stole a glance at me before walking away, and I could only wonder what he wanted to do to her.

Had he found out that she was telling me about him? Was he going to kill her? A tear slipped down her cheeks as she disappeared down the hallways.

If anything happened to her, it would be my fault. I paced to and fro in my room. Hugo's steps seemed to have faded down the hallway. Slipping to the door, I peered outside and was glad to see that no one was stationed there.

Creeping outside, I walked down the hallways for what seemed like ages. I would never get used to the number of turns and hallways in this mansion. It was just so much.

This was a good time to sniff around for clues anyways, wasn't it? I dashed in the direction of the kitchen for a moment, hoping to find Trevor when a muffled sound caught my ears.

I paused in my tracks, curious. What was that? The sound came again, and this time, it was a bit louder.

Moving in the direction of the room, I ducked behind a large flower vase when a moving figure passed me. It was Hugo.

He was obviously heading back to my room with the way he was walking fast. Thankfully, I had shut the door of my room and arranged pillows under my blanket so he would think I was in bed.

 "Don..."

"Take off your clothes. Don't make me repeat myself," Luca's voice was harsh as they floated into my ears.

I unconsciously drew my clothes around myself tighter. Who was he talking to?

I crept closer to the door, which was opened a crack, and my eyes widened.

It was Luca and kneeling before him was Sofia. Her face was stricken with tears, and her nose was red. She looked like she had been crying. What was he doing to her?

"Don, please just listen to me. I didn't—"

She was cut short when he grabbed her roughly by the arm and shoved her on the bed. I covered my mouth with my hands to muffle my gasp. Was he about to force himself on her?

How foolish had I been to think there was any iota of kindness in him when he said he couldn't force himself on me. What a monster! Why did he even lie to me? What did he have to prove?

When Sofia's screamed again, I felt my blood boil. I could not let Luca hurt her. I arose with the aim of barging in, but I was grabbed by someone.

The person placed a large hand over my mouth to muffle me and pulled me away.

I kicked and squealed, but no words came out, and I couldn't escape his grip.

Was that one of Luca's men? Was I in trouble? Was he going to kill me? My heart beat faster as I kicked and scratched harder.

When we got to a very dark hallway, when my back hit the wall harshly. I looked up to see who had captured me, but his face was masked.

"Who the hell are you? Let me go!" I snapped, my voice lowered for some reason.

He shook his head, huffing as he took off his mask. A gasp escaped my lips. "Trevor!"

"Shhh," he mumbled, leaning into me. My eyes widened in confusion.

 "What are you doing?"

Before I could tell what was going on, he covered my lips with his. I pounded on his chest furiously, wondering what he was playing at.

His kiss was rough, and his hands roamed my waist. I squirmed in his arms, dying for an explanation.

When he had almost sucked out the air in me, he pulled away, his hands both by my side, trapping me.

"Are you crazy, Trevor? What on earth was that about?!" I snapped but he covered my mouth with his hands.

When I caught sight of some men in dark overalls walking around with torches in their hands, I understood why he had done that.

It was the only way we would not have gotten suspected and killed.

"Hey, you!" One of them growled, walking in our direction. Trevor pulled me closer and covered my lips with his again. "Get a damned room!" The man snapped, walking away.

When he was sure that the men had completely gone, Trevor pulled away from me, his anger bubbling within him. "I could ask you the same thing, agent! Have you gone mad?!" He growled, his voice low.

My brows twisted in confusion. "Excuse me?!"

"I've been watching you from the shadows, and I've been impressed with your tactics until you began to show just how childish you are!" He snapped. I took offence to that. What the hell did he mean by I was being childish? "So you really would have stormed into Luca and his mistress's room? Are you crazy?! Do you want to get killed?"

I let out a huff. "Mistress? He is abusing her, and you choose to see it that way! You're inhumane!"

He rolled his eyes, anger still swirling in his orbs. "You're attached to her, aren't you? What exactly is our code? Isn't it that we don't get attached to the people we work with? I'd only say this once, everyone you interact with here are only tools to get us closer to our goal. Keep your emotions and sentiments locked up. What happens to anyone here is none of our business. Got it?!"

I scowled. "So we aren't supposed to help those who are in trouble here? Are you even human?"

He slapped his forehead lightly. "I knew it was a death mission sending a junior agent on such a mission," he growled, pulling away from me. "The stupid sentiments!" He spat. "Which is better? Capturing Luca and ending his evil before he kills us, or getting killed in the middle of the damned operation because your heart is so fragile it can't be kept at bay!"

His words came as a cold slap to my face. How dare he underestimate me because he was a senior agent?

"You have your plans, Trevor, and I have mine. I won't let you look down on me. Else, you can come and take over the mission while I get the hell out of here!" I snapped coldly, walking away before he could say any other thing.
