"It worked!"
"Haha, we are saved!"
"But why is the summoned a female?"
"Does it matter who is who? What is important is that we are finally saved. We don't have to fear those cannibals anymore!"
"But ….. when will she wake up?"
A group of strangely dressed men were chattering cautiously as they looked at the stone altar where a strangely dressed woman was lying.
Surrounding them were luscious trees and rocks, but the land surrounding the altar was cleared.
These men were wearing either animal skins or grass skirts and, in their hands, they held stone spears. From the oldest to the youngest, they had strange tattoos marked on their bodies and they looked dark, like charcoal.
'Where am I?'
'What am I seeing?'
'Could this be heaven? No ….. there is no such heaven! I have sinned so much. A person like me can't go there!'
A young woman asked suspiciously and cautiously as she looked around. Seeing the men who were wearing animal hides and grass skirts, the tattoos and the weapons, she found herself going through a tide of emotions.
She was confused as she took all that in. After realizing that these people were talking in a language that she didn't know, she closed her eyes as she tried to make sense of what was happening.
If she wasn't mistaken, shouldn't she be dead by now?
She remembered clearly how that vixen struck her with a lot of lightning and told her to be humane in her next life.
She still remembered how painful that bolt was. How her body felt as if it was being pierced and torn in pieces. She would never forget that painful sensation, never.
After suffering like that. How was it possible to see herself alive and painless like that?
Could the whole thing be a hallucination of some sort?
Moon couldn't help but wonder as she looked at the primitive men who didn't seem to realize that she was awake.
[They can't see you at the moment!]
Suddenly a mechanical cold voice sounded in her ears, startling Moon so badly that her heart started beating wildly. For a moment there, it felt as if it would jump out of the ribcage at any moment.
[There is no need to panic. I mean no harm.]
However, as she was still feeling panicked and trying to make sense of what was happening, the voice returned, but this time, it sounded much more assuring, and her racing heart found itself calming.
"You …. What are you? And who are you?" Moon asked cautiously and fearfully as she looked around, her heart beating nonstop.
[I am a messenger of the Great God! That's all you need to know about me,] the voice responded.
Moon's brows furrowed when she heard that. Where she came from, there were all sorts of deities, but she had never heard one called the Great God before. Wasn't this deity being a bit too …. Anyway, she hurriedly shook away such thoughts.
Even a small deity has a temper. What if she thinks nonsensical and ends up provoking a deity that she knows nothing about?
"This ... um, do you mind telling me what going on here, messenger? If I am not mistaken, that lightning killed me!" she mustered her courage to ask.
Since she was dealing with deities, she might as well get to the bottom of the matter and accept reality. After her doomed rebirth, which landed her being struck by lightning, she could accept any other strange occurrences. As long as she comes back to life, who cares about other things?
[I love your attitude when looking at things. Indeed, you died and your soul was going to be obliterated, but considering your uniqueness, the Great God decided to save you and give you a new chance in life. Are you willing to take that chance and do something meaningful?]
Moon was a bit nervous at first when the messenger started talking and when she heard about the soul getting obliterated, fear filled her and then hatred for that vixen.
Although she schemed against her and left her for dead. She wasn't the only person who did it. Besides, didn't that vixen survive and end up with some favor from whatever deity she was serving?
If that vixen just wanted to kill her, she would accept it. But why did she have to give her a glimmer of hope about another lifetime when she was going to obliterate her soul? Just how cruel did that vixen become after getting better?
However, when the messenger spoke the last part, warmth covered her cold heart and a glimmer of hope started flickering in her eyes.
She could have a second chance in life and do something meaningful. Wouldn't that be good?
But what kind of chance was the messenger planning on giving her? It couldn't be anything suspicious, right?
Thinking like that, she clenched her fists, determination flashing in her eyes before opening her mouth, saying, "Messenger, let's say that I accept this chance. What is it you require from me? You know, the kind of world that I was living in. I really don't want to find myself in such a scary world again. I can do anything as long as you don't return me there!"
[Don't worry. It's impossible to send you back to that world. You will have to live in this world and with those people you see surrounding you!] the voice responded and his remarks drew Moon to take another look at the primitive men who were still keeping a distance from her and speaking in a language that she couldn't hear.
Seeing that she was seeing them and could even talk with the messenger. How come they weren't seeing her yet?
[You are currently in your soul form. As long as your soul returned to your body, they would be able to speak to you properly,] the messenger answered her, giving her the answers that were haunting her from the moment she saw them earlier.
With that realization dawning on her, relief washed over her and, after a moment of catching her breath, she asked, "So, what is that you want me to do? I will do it as long as I can live!" vowing solemnly about the matter.
As long as she didn't return to that apocalyptic world, she could accept anything.
[Good! Let me explain to you a bit about what is happening here. After the explanation, if you still want to take the opportunity and change your life. Then you can do so, but if you don't want to, then you can reject it. However, there is only one outcome for rejecting. You will die forever.]
Moon just wanted to roll her eyes when she heard that. What was the difference between this and just outrightly threatening her?
She wasn't foolish and wouldn't decline such a great deal for anything else.
"Don't worry. I am not foolish. I have already accepted. Just go ahead and tell me. I am quite curious why I ended up here, anyway!" she determinedly responded, making her stance clear, lest the messenger think otherwise.
The messenger didn't respond to that but continued with where it left off.
[A primitive tribe which is about to lose their old priest summoned you. To save their tribe from the continuous hostile attacks from the cannibals, they needed a strong backer, thus performing a summoning ritual. Although this method wouldn't work, the Great God saw this as a great opportunity to amass faith in this unexplored world.
The tribe needed a priest, the Great God needed a priest and someone who could achieve that on his behalf. At the same time, you happen to be dying and granting you a chance to live and take on such a task didn't seem too bad!] The messenger didn't mince any words but honestly explained the matter as it was.
Moon, listening to this truthful confession, was at a loss for words. When was the last time she listened to anyone being so truthful like that?
That world didn't allow such traits to appear. It was a world of deceit and those who didn't know how to scheme would end up in the belly of those rotten zombies.
However, on second thought, she couldn't help but feel warm listening to the messenger. There was no need to lie to her. Telling her the truth as it was would make her appreciate this Great God, she knew nothing about and have a positive attitude towards him.
[As a result, you have been summoned to save this tribe as its priestess and the only deity that you shall worship is the Great God who saved you from obliteration.]
Listening to that, Moon had an idea of what was going on and she didn't mind being used. There wasn't any harm in doing all that, to be honest. She was getting the best of worlds while lying down.
So, why not?
