Upon hearing that, the primitive men all stood up respectively and Moon, watching them, couldn't help but flush, seeing how minimalistic some of them were dressing. Especially those wearing animal hides. They were only covering the front and the buttocks.
Perhaps the animal hides weren't that much to make full skirts, but a lot of skin was exposed. She couldn't help but feel a bit shy, but after three years of staying in the apocalypse, she didn't remain shy for long.
What hadn't she seen?
Moon observed the men, who now stood straight with caution on their faces. She didn't know what they were thinking and didn't want to know.
Women during these times weren't that superior _ at least, from what she had read in books. Men were superior and since they could hunt, become priests and protect the tribes, they held important positions in the tribe.
As for females, apart from bearing children and gathering vegetables and fruits. What else did they do?
However, that didn't faze her. She came from a world where only the powerful ruled. It didn't matter if you were a man or a woman, as long as you were strong and had gold, then you were the king.
Regardless of what these people think, since they summoned her, then they were stuck with her no matter what they thought.
To make things move swiftly, understand what was truly going on, and understand the tribe's ins and outs, she had to ask them a few questions.
Without further ado, she looked at the man, who seemed to be the leader. She didn't know if he was the patriarch or what, but whoever he was, something about him made her assume and think that he must hold a position in the tribe.
So, he targeted him first and asked directly, "When are we going to the tribe? It is getting late!" her remarks already showed everyone that she understood what was going on.
When the targeted man saw that the female priest was addressing him, he was so excited that his chest puffed out, feeling the honor of being graced by her like that.
His heart was beating nonstop as he listened to her melodious voice, which he had never heard in his tribe or those other tribes before.
The female priest in front of him and his other tribesmen were wearing strange clothes, but it suited her the most. Something about her made her look holy. She was indeed the female priest sent to them to save them. He was excited.
The targeted man put his fist on his chest and bowed his head slightly without looking directly at Moon and answered, "Female priest, we can leave right away! It's a short distance to the tribe, but we will get there before the sun sets!"
When Moon heard that, relief washed over her. She looked at the sun in the sky but didn't gauge what time it would be. So, she checked her wrist and saw the familiar watch on it. She didn't know if it was working or not, but when she checked the watch, a wry smile appeared on her face.
The watch had frozen at some point, and she couldn't tell anything by it. Anyway, it didn't matter anymore. What use would time be here, anyway, when she didn't even know which year, month, day or world she was in?
With that thought in mind, she looked at the young man dressed better than the others and nodded. "Then let's move right away! We can't delay!" her tone was urging.
It was very dangerous being in the same place and knowing that there were cannibals. What if one of them suddenly arrived?
Thinking about those human-eating people, Moon shuddered. She didn't want to die, especially now that she couldn't fight for herself. Thinking about saving her life, she could only urge the others to leave as soon as possible.
Since she was the priestess, all these men couldn't reject her.
The targeted young man loudly agreed before turning to face the rest and instructing, "You heard the female priest. Let's get out of here!" everyone echoed his words, making Moon smile, loving how united these people were.
After coming from a place where betrayal was like a staple food, it felt surreal witnessing all that.
After the command had been made, the men started moving and while they were doing so, the targeted young man spoke to Moon. "Female priest, you must remain in the middle of the encirclement until we reach the tribe. There are dangers along the way and we don't want anything happening to you!" He informed her of the dangers that she might face.
Moon nodded appreciatively of the effort and didn't make things difficult for anyone. However, just to be safe, she willed the magic handgun out of her storage space and kept it hidden. So, no one saw it.
She didn't want to put her life in the hands of others. What if something bad happens, and she finds herself on the edge of death?
She would do her best to live and save these people who were doing their best to protect her.
With all preparations done, they started moving and seeing the men with taut exposed buttocks walking in front of her, Moon didn't know where to put her eyes. The thought of seeing that for a very long time, numerous changes began emerging in her head. As the priestess, she had the right to implement some policies, right?
There was absolutely no way she was going to continue looking at people barely dressed and women walking around with their upper bodies exposed. She was also a woman and the thought of seeing that filled her eyes with gloom. There was absolutely no way that she was going to let that happen.
She might not be capable, but she would do her best.
With that thought in mind, she became eager to start this whole new life as a priestess, and the thought of that brought a smile to her face.
However, she never expected that such a smile would vanish moments later when two of the scouts suddenly appeared, panting and out of breath, yelling, "The cannibals are here! The cannibals are here!" their tones filled with warning and fear.
Badum. Badum. Badum.
Upon hearing that, Moon felt as if her heart was beating in her ears. It was so loud; that she couldn't ignore it. At the same time, the thought of meeting cannibals on the first day she arrived in the new world. Was she that unlucky?
Couldn't they have waited at least a few days after she had acclimated to the environment and whatnot? But they just had to come now! Were they taking her for granted?
While she was lost in such thoughts, the warriors who shielded her on all sides prepared for the incoming attack.
"Get ready! We can't let them take anyone of us today!"
"I didn't think that those beasts would come again! Didn't they just ….."
"We will not lose!"
"Protect the female priest!"
Judging from what was being said, Moon summarized that the tribe had just recently suffered another attack from the cannibals. The thought that these cannibals took and ate their people. She could imagine how their blood was boiling right now to avenge their loved ones.
At the same time, Moon couldn't help but wonder just how greedy these cannibals were to attack the tribe continuously like that. Weren't there any animals to hunt or other tribes to attack?
To think that they dared attack her tribe, hehe, she wasn't going to be a soft persimmon and let any of these people be attacked, killed, or eaten again.
She would rather have soup and vegetables than eat another person's flesh. That was simply unacceptable.
Her eyes turned murderous as the handgun appeared in her hand. One way or the other, she was going to shoot one or two in the head and scare them away. Perhaps the Guide already knew of the incoming attack, that's why she was given the gun. She was going to use it well and make sure that these people who know no bounds get the best ending they deserve.
"Female priest, don't worry, we will protect you! Nothing will happen to you!" the targeted young man who happened to be a priest's apprentice and the one who had been leading the ritual reassured her as he held tightly the stone spear in his hand.
When Moon heard that, she looked at him, and the corner of her lips curled upwards. It felt great being protected by other people.
She loved this feeling.
