"How ... how could it be her?"
She was appalled, her mouth wide open in shock as she looked at the one person she abhorred so much, that when she left her three months ago to die in that goddamn forest, she didn't even have regrets.
But what was a dead person doing here?
'Impossible! That can't be her! That b**** is dead. Impossible!' she shook her head in denial, eyes blazing red as her hands clenched into fists.
She crazily denied it as she continued to shake her head. The image of that woman tied by those vines on that gigantic humanoid tree surfaced in her head.
There was no way she would be able to survive that ordeal. It was a done deal the moment she got caught and sacrificed for the greater good. So how was it possible that she was here and the owner of Paradise City?
"She is dead! It can't be!" she mumbled crazily as she glared fiercely at the woman dressed in a tight-fitting jumpsuit, which accentuated the curves that she had always hated.
That body was the bane of all women. Because that vixen was born with such a slutty body, all men's attention was always on her.
She knew nothing about fighting, and all she relied on was her body and the slutty knowledge which she used to serve men. When they were busy fighting, that vixen was busy serving men. How could they all receive the same resources and, at times, that vixen even got much more than them?
How could she even tolerate being in the same team with that kind of slutty woman? And above all, that vixen ...…
Lost in her crazy thoughts and mumbling, the young woman didn't even notice that the guests were looking at her strangely, but even if she did, she wouldn't care.
In her world, all she could see was that woman, laughing mockingly at her as she walked towards her.
She didn't even want to accept the reality or fact that the woman she expected to be dead happened to be the same person she was idolizing right now and hoping to get acquainted with.
The woman who was once dirt in my eyes had somehow become a deity in the eyes of many. How could she accept such a change calmly like that?
Looking at that vixen, turning her head to look where she was, the young woman didn't bother to hide her hatred.
There was no way that she would bow down towards that person. Since that place was owned by that vixen, being chased around by the zombies would be much better rather than being at the mercy of that woman's hand.
"Well, well, well! Long time no see, Moon! I didn't think that I would be seeing you again, anytime soon!" that woman's mocking voice rang in her ears, and the young woman, whose nickname in the apocalypse was Moon, dug her nails cruelly in her palms, drawing blood as she fiercely glared at the other.
Moon stood there, being gawked at like an animal in the zoo, dressed shabbily in cargo pants, a washed-down jacket and a pair of safety shoes. While her opponent wore that fancy-looking jumpsuit, a pair of high heeled which sparkled under the light.
Her hair looked longer than the last time Moon saw the other and her skin ….. damn, how could she look that good?
With her not-so-good complexion before, that vixen was so capable of attracting men, and now, she looked even more lethal.
If Moon were to compare the vixen to a mythical creature, she would label the vixen as both a fox and a nymph. Moon felt embarrassed facing head-on the other at that moment. However, what was done was already done. There wasn't any point in crying over spilt milk anymore.
She had already become a laughingstock. Judging by the whispers of those around her, Moon could tell that these people had caught up and could tell that the two of them weren't any friends. And since they weren't friends, her presence in that hotel would be an eyesore.
However, just because she was on the losing end, didn't mean that Moon was willing to accept defeat. It wasn't easy for her to live and protect her life in the second lifetime. Her ego and pride as a reborn person didn't allow her to bow her head. She refused to do so.
Since the vixen wanted to play, Moon didn't shy away but played along as well.
"I am also surprised to see you, as well," Moon unclenched her fists as she responded, her tone coming out as spiteful to those who were listening. "I can see that life has been treating you well!" Moon added as she turned completely to face the vixen.
Badum. Badum. Badum.
However, inwardly, Moon wasn't as calm as she portrayed to be. Her heart was thumping loudly, and fear and nervousness enveloped her.
As someone who wronged the vixen once upon a time and she managed to survive to become who she was today, Moon knew for certain that she was going to be the receiver of the famous face-slapping scene.
She had never been face-slapped even before the apocalypse descended on them three years ago and yet her gut feeling was screaming at her right now. It wasn't going to end well.
"I guess that it should be surprising for you but for me ..." the vixen said sarcastically while drawing her words before continuing, "I have been waiting for you for a very long time," she added while spreading her arms and Moon knew instantly that it wasn't good.
Moon couldn't help but follow those hands and the glitter and sparkly on them made her stomach churn in jealousy, despite the loud thumping heart which feared what the vixen might do after saying such unsettling words.
"What do you want from me?" Moon gritted her teeth as she spat that question, not wanting to lose face. The way people were staring at her and insinuating about their past was unsettling.
However, she miscalculated, for the vixen didn't seem to care about her or rather, wasn't in the mood to waste her energy on her at all.
What she said next in response to Moon's cold question infuriated Moon to the fullest.
"I don't want this place to be tainted by a person like you!" she said coldly, as she looked at Moon with a disgusted expression which left no room for any complicated interpretation. "So, I came out to welcome you personally_"
"You_" Moon was so angry that she pointed her finger at the vixen, but the other cut her off midway, leaving her no chance to utter anything.
"Otherwise, how will I be able to do this?" the vixen cut Moon off, her tone sarcastic, sending shivers down Moon's spine.
Crack!
Boom!
And before Moon could react, the vixen waved her hand nonchalantly and the thundering sound of lightning rang in her ears. Before she could see where this lightning strike and thunder was coming from inside such a safe space, Moon got hit by a wave of electricity and she let out a piercing scream as severe pain coursed through her body.
"Ah~~~" she cried out as she twitched and convulsed with pain.
And as she fell to the floor, in an embarrassing state, with the mocking insults and scolding from the guests who were on the vixen's side, that vixen's words rang loudly in her ears once more. "Become humane in your next life!" and those were the last words Moon as reluctance, fury, jealousy and above all, denial enveloped her.
Moon just couldn't accept how the person she spent so much effort scheming against so that she might get rid of her, didn't even take her seriously but just dealt with her as if she were an ant.
How could she tolerate something like that?
Unfortunately, what was done was done, and that rebirth she always prided in only led her to an embarrassing ending; getting struck by lightning and becoming a joke in everyone's eyes.
As for becoming humane in her next life.
Who knows if that could actually happen?
After all, could the heavens actually give another chance to a person like her?
Those were her last thoughts as she blacked out completely.
