"Don't worry. I am blessed and favored by the Great God. How could a mere cannibal do me any damage?" Moon spoke loudly, her tone boastful, wanting everyone to hear.
This was a great opportunity for her to preach the gospel and let these people be curious about the deity that she saved. If later she does a miracle and kills those cannibals, they would be in awe of the Great God. Wouldn't that earn her some faith and merit points?
The tribesmen were a bit confused about what deity she was speaking about but no one had the chance to ask, as at that very moment, a group of cannibals appeared holding spears and clubs. They looked pretty menacing and very ugly, to be honest.
"Be careful!" the priest apprentice warned as he shielded Moon from the view of the four cannibals who had just arrived.
Seeing the small number, Moon was a bit disturbed, not understanding why they would send so few people for an attack. Could it be that they looked down on her tribesmen which was why they dared to humiliate them like that?
Of course, she was happy that the number was small. However, she felt as if they were being undermined and humiliated by them doing it like.
"Tche ... today is another good day for a harvest!" a taller cannibal with bulging muscles mockingly said as he scanned greedily at the tribesmen who were still in defense formation.
"I can see that you have prepared for us pretty well!" another chimed in, licking his lips greedily.
"Did that useless ritual work?" another mockingly asked as he looked around before his gaze landed on Moon who was watching the whole drama with a calm gaze though inwardly, she was shaking.
She had seen cannibals in the apocalyptic world and knew how dangerous those people were. But in the primitive world, these people were simply so scary and unhygienic. She looked at the four men who had very sharp and pointed teeth. She would have mistaken them as shark people if she didn't know that it wasn't an orc world but a human one.
Just how eager were they to eat people to sharpen their teeth like that?
And those teeth were black. With the thought of how bad their breaths would stink, Moon wanted to deal with them as soon as possible.
However, these people seemed to have the time in the world, considering how after noticing her, they started daunting her.
"You female! Why are you dressed like that?"
"You can't possibly be the new priest, are you?"
"Haha, I can see that it failed. Otherwise, why would that deity of yours give you a useless female?"
"It will be better to just give her to us! We can let you for now. I have never tasted meat from someone like that!"
Their lecherous voices made her dry heave. She felt disgusted the more she listened and looked at them. However, the tribesmen's voices soothed her as warmth filled her once more.
"Female priest, don't listen to them!"
"We will protect you with our lives even if it means us dying!"
"Protect the female priest!"
Listening to their declarations which sounded pretty sincere, Moon who hadn't heard such words in a very long time suddenly felt motivated and determined to not let her people suffer like that ever again.
She gently pushed the priest apprentice away, so that she was looking at the four who were blocking the road.
Seeing how they appeared on the road. It showed that they waited patiently for them there and didn't want to leave them with a retreat. But who was she?
"Female _" the priest apprentice wanted to say something but Moon raised her hand to stop him and said, "I hate people who find joy and relish eating their brothers and sisters their most. It is people like you who make the world a horrible place. We will always remain backward and never increase in population.
There are all kinds of wild animals that you can hunt and feast on but your laziness and selfishness lead you to hunt your own kind and eat them. Pfuuu ….. I spit on you and today I will show you to never look down on women and people in overall!" her tone filled with anger as she raised her gun towards the cannibal who wanted to eat her and without warning, a 'BANG' sound rang in everyone ears, forcing everyone to clutch their ears as they screamed while crouching down.
Boom!
At the same time, the cannibal whom Moon had aimed at fell to the ground, blood oozing from his forehead startling the other three cannibals who had crouched down in fear.
Seeing their acquaintance dead on the ground, they fiercely looked at Moon who was the only one standing with her gun still pointed at them and shuddered with fear.
While they were filled with fear, the fellow tribesmen who were still clamoring to fight to the death to protect Moon, all looked at her with worshiping eyes and in awe of the Great God that she had spoken about.
The Guide system which was offline a while ago was awakened as faith points started getting accumulated. Seeing the number increasing fast like that, it was curious about what the priestess had done and when it saw her standing majestically while shooting a cannibal who was on his knees. It felt strange briefly before it rejoiced.
It had picked the right host after all. It seemed that the job this time would go well perfectly.
Meanwhile, on Moon's side, she didn't give the cannibals any time to think and shoot all of them without delay. After three years of living in the apocalypse, she was very professional when it comes to using weapons. In that world, everyone was military. Nothing was shocking about it.
The tribesmen watched as the cannibals they always feared lying dead on the ground, with their foreheads drilled into and blood pooling beneath them with shock.
They all looked at their priestess who looked holier than before and majestic, they couldn't help but kneel again and chanted some praise which brought Moon back to reality.
Pulling that trigger brought back some emotions. For a second, she felt as if she was facing the zombies again and wanted nothing but to blow their brains out. That's why she aimed for the head. You never go wrong with the head. Never!
"Burry those bodies and get rid of any blood. We don't want to attract any wild animals or have the cannibals' tribesmen tracking them here!" Moon instructed the tribesmen while cutting their praise chants.
Moments later, the men were busy digging a grave on the side while she walked around checking whether she would find anything that she recognized. She needed to find food. She couldn't rely on the marketplace, the goods there were quite expensive. So, it would be efficient and cheaper if she started foraging for her own food.
While she did so, she had four warriors protecting her without encroaching on her personal space.
She didn't mention a word of what she was doing and she didn't plan to.
After checking the surrounding areas. She was quite disappointed as she didn't spot a single wild vegetable that she could recognize. Perhaps the vegetation here was different from her original world. If that was indeed the case, then wouldn't she be doomed?
Looking at the gigantic trees which people from the previous would do anything to get; that is, before the apocalyptic world, she couldn't help but have an inkling that this period and world she was in, might have surprises for her.
'I just hope that there aren't any dinosaurs here!' she feared those more than anything else.
It would be a disaster if those large animals existed here. She would give up and have her soul obliterated.
After a while, the four cannibals were buried, and the journey continued, and everyone was on alert. Thankfully, halfway through the journey, there weren't any more surprises. At least the dangerous kind but the kind that made Moon's eyes bright upon seeing them.
"Stop!" she excitedly ordered the tribesmen before rushing out of the road and heading towards a small hill which was several meters away from the road.
When they saw her rushing toward the hill, they didn't panic but hurriedly followed, curious about why she was acting like that.
When they finally reached her, they saw her crouching down as she looked at a familiar tree.
The priest apprentice walked towards her but still maintained a distance and said to her, "Priestess, there are a lot of those fruit trees everywhere but they don't taste nice. You shouldn't bother much with them!" advising her and hoping that she wouldn't be too excited to see such an ordinary tree which was almost everywhere.
However, Moon when she heard that, turned her head and smiled at the other and said, "It might be ordinary and doesn't taste nice, but you will see in the future how it's used. Help me pluck the fruits. I can see the trees all over!" before starting to pluck the small red fruit.
