Chapter 5 - A Parents adaptation

Inko Midoriya wasn't the most extroverted person. Her anxiety played a significant role in her reserved nature, while her husband, Hisashi, was the more vocal and social one between the two. However, that wasn't the priority right now. It had been a year since the crazy, life-altering events began, and she felt it was finally time to give her husband a complete explanation, now that she had more information.

"Hi Hisashi, I wanted to call and tell you about Izuku's final diagnosis and provide updates on anything you might have questions about. Please call me if you want to talk now, or text me when you're available," Inko said, sighing as she hung up the phone. Hisashi had little time to call her; being a professional hero in America meant his schedule was always jam-packed.

California was one of the most tumultuous places to live in 2134, an era plagued by villainous factions masquerading as heroes. As a result, many underground heroes were enlisted to conduct undercover investigations to eliminate these significant threats. Almost every country had similar "villain zones," areas where government control was weak, but California was the most infamous. Thankfully, it was also considered one of the least dangerous villain zones.

Inko hadn't told Izuku about his father's dangerous occupation. She didn't want him to aspire to be an underground hero; that path was far riskier than being a street-level hero. Her priority was to protect him from such a future, even if it meant withholding crucial information.

Anyway, because of her husband's wonky schedule, he hasn't been able to keep up with what has been going on over the past year. The only reason Inko was even messaging him about Izuku's situation was that Hisashi recently finished one of his big cases, and he was given a couple of months to recuperate. Inko had a lot to tell him. She needed to explain to him what Izuku's diagnosis was and what it meant for their family if he were to come back home this summer.

In fact, I, the Author, have not explained what D.I.D. is yet, so just in case you don't know, let me explain. D.I.D., or dissociative identity disorder, is the current and more accurately named version of multiple personality disorder. Basically, from what most people have studied, to develop D.I.D., a person has to go through a traumatic event in childhood. Generally, these events are very horrible—so bad that I don't want to put them here. Instead, I will let you do the research to find out if you really want to know.

Anyway, I'm just going to say this now: Izuku's trauma is mainly inflicted by other students. He was more traumatized by the indifference of the adults around him than by any actions they took against him. So you don't have to worry about any sexual abuse, because I'm not subjecting a child to that, even if they're not real.

Anyway, the main component of dissociative identity disorder (D.I.D.) is the alters. I am not an expert on this; I've done some research and watched psychologists talk about their experiences. I also watched some people with D.I.D. discuss their experiences as a system. One of the systems switched mid-video, which was interesting to watch. So, I'm not an expert, and it's really hard to explain. If I get anything wrong or don't quite represent D.I.D. accurately, I'm sorry; just chalk it up to magical Quirk bullshit.

Anyway, I'm rambling. Back to the story! I also don't think anyone gained any new information from that, but whatever.

Inko also wanted to talk about her two new babies. She had always dreamed of having more kids, but with her husband's work and Izuku's quirklessness, she felt a bit concerned. She didn't want to subject another child to the same ostracization that Izuku faced. Deep down, she internalized his difficulties as her fault.

Inko had been talking to Hound Dog about these insecurities, along with Izuku's situation, and those discussions were helping her self-esteem and anxiety, for the most part. She felt revitalized, and interacting with her three babies truly healed her soul.

At first, Mordred was hard for her to connect with. In many ways, she was the opposite of Izuku. Then, Inko realized that Mordred was just a more tomboyish version of Mitsuki. Buying her cute stuffed animals, taking her to the zoo, and even purchasing girly clothes were all things that Mordred enjoyed, even if she didn't openly admit it.

Just last week, Inko took Mordred to the Spiral Sky Shopping Mall. Initially, Mordred showed no interest at all and acted very tsundere. However, after a little convincing, Inko managed to pick out some cute, gender-neutral clothing for her. Inko didn't draw attention to the fact that Mordred tried on a few skirts and placed them in the cart. When they got home, the two of them had a little dress-up party. Inko relished this confusing yet joyful time in her life, though she still couldn't get Mordred to call her "Mom."

In contrast, her relationship with her other new baby, Emyia, was different. At home, he dutifully completed any chores she asked him to do and spent a lot of time repairing random items around the house. The only activity they really shared was cooking, which Inko loved. She enjoyed spending time with him in the kitchen, and since he seemed to be somewhat aware of what the other two were up to, she could get a semi-full report of their day.

Izuku's relationship with her had also changed. He was more active than he had been a year ago, though he still hid a lot from her. In fact, there were many things from back then that he still kept hidden. He barely spoke, but he was smiling again. He appeared happy despite everything he had gone through. Based on what the pro heroes discovered, it sounded like a lot had happened. Still, he was content with his life right now, even if it meant he would have to confront his trauma later.

Inko was still worried about the system, though. With three babies and the potential for a fourth or even a fifth alter they knew nothing about, concerns loomed. There was a possibility that one of them could develop an alter known as a persecutor.

What exactly is a persecutor? They are personalities that harm the physical body and the other personalities, believing they are protecting the system. Think of them as similar to the immune system reacting to an allergy. While their intentions may be misguided, they can cause significant problems. However, the desire to help can also lead to redemption, which is recognized in the system as a protector. Currently, the only protector in the Midoriya system is Emyia.

Hi, the author here again! For simplicity's sake, I'll refer to these classifications as classes. Here's the list of what every alter's class is:

- Izuku's Class: Host

- Mordred's Class: Caretaker

- Emyia's Class: Protector

And before you ask, why is Mordred classified as a caretaker? That's for future content. No spoilers!

Inko couldn't shake her worries about the potential harm the new alters might cause. According to Nezu, it was highly likely that all the alters in the Midoriya system would possess different quirks. This included the unsettling possibility of a persecutor emerging among them.

She loved all her children equally; they were still her babies, after all. However, the uncertainty surrounding the possible persecutor made her anxious. As a natural worrywart, her mind spiraled with endless possibilities of what could go wrong.

"Hey, Mrs. Inko, are you okay?" Inko looked up from her phone to see Mordred staring at her with tender eyes hidden behind her proud façade. Inko smiled; her most bullheaded child could tell something was bothering her. Grabbing Mordred, Inko pulled her into a loving hug. "Hey, if I knew you were going to do this, I never would have asked!" Mordred wiggled in her arms, trying to escape. After a while, she gave up and submitted to being hugged.

OK, this is the end of the chapter. Sorry it's a little short again, but my arm hurts from writing. Anyway, this was more of a auto planner chapter because I realize I never really brought up what D.I.D Was and I was like I might as well make a makeshift chapter talking about it. So if you enjoyed, please comment I enjoy interaction.

Also a question of the chapter. What are some fun activities? I could have characters do with the altars. Should I do a whole chapter about Emyia cooking with Lunch Rush? Should I have write A chapter about Nasu teaching each individual altar? these are just examples so tell me fun ideas because otherwise I'm just gonna skip right to the next Alter after this chapter. Anyway, bye-bye.
