Chapter - 2 The Black Lake
From the game world of Diablo, there are seven major classes: Amazon, Assassin, Necromancer, Barbarian, Sorceress, Druid, and Paladin.
At that time, Regulus was playing as a Necromancer in Diablo II. Having already completed the game with various classes, he was using a modifier to create top-tier equipment for his new Necromancer.
The Haradim Titan Belt [49 slots] was such a product. Huh...? What is [49 slots]?
Generally, a belt has only one row of 4 slots, at most 4 rows for a total of about 16 slots; 16 slots is the limit for a belt.
Regulus naturally knew that he was crossing over with a system, and the system had modified his top-tier belt.
Then, when he focused on the belt, Regulus discovered that it was an entire character equipment table. The lower part of the equipment table had 4 rows of empty slots, each row containing 10 slots, while the upper part was the character's equipment bar, which was currently empty except for the middle belt.
So, this [49 slots] is the sum of 40 empty slots and the equipment bar, which has a total of 10 positions. Removing the belt's position leaves exactly [49 slots].
In addition to the character equipment table, there was also a panoramic exploration map and a skill tree, all because Regulus had set [ +7 Necromancer Skills] during modification.
The Necromancer class has three skill trees: [Summoning], [Bone and Poison], and [Curses].
Each tree has 10 spells, totaling 30 spells, and now these spell icons are all marked with +7.
Moreover, since this is not the actual game system, all original explanations have become somewhat ambiguous. This means that these skills will align more closely with the laws of this world, or the magical rules of the sorcerers.
In fact, it's just casual nonsense! As long as the core meaning remains unchanged, magical skills will vary according to the user's requirements.
For example: if we use a spell called [Pulling Up Seedlings to Help Them Grow], does it really pull the seedlings out or does it accelerate their growth? Thus, magical abilities of this mysterious nature are whimsical, unlike technological weapons that can calculate various values.
Now, having understood this, Regulus is going to use the skill that comes with the top-tier belt: the summoning spell [Control Puppet].
"Come on! Let me see if this body can still be used?" Regulus pointed at the inferi in the water.
The Inferi of Regulus Black quickly responded, strolling towards the small island and climbing ashore.
[Control Puppet] turned out to be a passive skill that could only enhance the basic attributes of several other types of puppets.
Now, Regulus used this magic to control an unconscious Inferi and bring it to his side.
After becoming a Inferi, the eternally 18-year-old Regulus Black maintained his original appearance, with no effects from long-term immersion in water; there was no swelling or corpse spots.
Regulus looked at the Inferi before him and felt as if he were looking in a mirror and seeing a Caucasian descent, who had black hair.
Next, Regulus was going to perform the second spell, the summoning magic [Corpse Resurrection].
[Corpse Resurrection] was originally used to resurrect monsters killed in the game, commanding these monsters to fight for the Necromancer.
Now, Regulus intended to resurrect himself, borrowing the body of Regulus Black for the revival.
Regulus first had the Inferi lie down; he didn't want to accidentally fall into the water and be beaten by a swarm of Inferis right after waking up.
"Maybe you really are my past life! I hope this resurrection goes as I expect."
Regulus's spirit also lay down, perfectly overlapping with the body of the Inferi.
"Then... let's begin! [Corpse Resurrection]!"
Regulus used this magic on himself. It would be impossible to say he wasn't nervous, but it felt like just a gentle tremor.
"Did it work?" Regulus suddenly sat up, or rather, Regulus Black rose up as if from the dead.
As he carefully sensed it, his body slowly began to recover from its cold state. The heartbeat in his chest clearly reached his ears, and he could feel the blood circulating through his limbs. Taking a breath, the long-lost cold air refreshed his lungs.
"I'm finally alive again!" Regulus Black shouted with his own voice.
The sound echoed in the cave, but the underwater corpses showed no reaction. Regulus Black knew that only by disturbing the water's surface would these corpses leap out to attack all living beings, until those lives became companions with them.
This was also why Regulus didn't first merge with the underwater corpse of Regulus Black to revive.
Returning to the stone basin, the potion had disappeared, leaving only a rectangular gem-shaped pendant box.
That was a fake that Regulus Black had previously swapped. Upon opening the pendant box, there was a note inside, which contained Regulus Black's last words.
To atone for his past mistakes, Regulus Black made a final remedy with his life. However, this note had already lost its meaning; Regulus Black had returned.
But it could still be put to good use. After crossing over with a system, besides the character equipment list and skill tree, there was an inconspicuous system ability: [Panoramic Exploration Map].
Just like in a game, the places the character walked would be recorded. In playing this game, mapping was a necessary process; it simply felt incomplete and uncomfortable otherwise.
After Regulus crossed over, the map began recording from the cave entrance. Now it had documented the entire cave and the whole Black Lake.
Regulus Black graduated early at the age of 16 and did so with excellent results in Slytherin. His magical prowess was naturally not weak; otherwise, he wouldn't have caught Voldemort's eye and become a Death Eater right after graduating.
Here he needed to draw inspiration from his brother Sirius Black and the method used by his four companions to create a prop: the live point map, combined with various temple settings from Diablo.
It should be noted that after his brother Sirius Black graduated, Regulus Black had obtained the live point map.
"Come on! Let me see if I can make the item I want by combining the two."
First, the part of the panoramic map showing the Black Lake projected in front of him was traced onto the paper in his hand. The last words on the parchment had disappeared, leaving only a map resembling a treasure map, documenting the environment of the Black Lake in this cave.
The map immediately displayed dense names and footprints; the names of those who had sunk into the water and turned into corpses floated on the map.
"Nearly 800 corpses, that seems a bit much!"
Regulus Black felt he had some sort of obsession with the number 7.
The live point map of the Black Lake was completed, and the paper automatically rolled up. This long strip of paper seemed to shrink and was stored inside the pendant box, a marvelous green light emanating from it, and Regulus Black was expelled by this green light.
Although the pendant box was still in hand, he found himself standing outside the stone wall, observing the panoramic map; there was no space behind the stone wall.
Observing the pendant box in his hand, Regulus Black was very satisfied with this first magical item he had created.
