Chapter 3 - A Father's Challenge
Once his father, Thegarroth, a towering bulky figure appeared before him, he said to Vhelgarr with an annoyed expression on his face, "What was the meaning of that?"
"Father, there was no meaning behind anything. I just don't want you to accept the Staff of Garryshem." Vhelgarr said with a straight face.
But thinking about it, especially the wars and disasters it caused, caused his heart to churn and burn. No matter what it took, even if it included paralyzing his father, he wouldn't allow him to accept the staff.
Thegarroth looked at Vhelgarr and said, "You just don't want me to accept the staff, right?"
Vhelgarr nodded his head definitively.
Thegarroth laughed and said deeply, like he was a beast that just emerged from the abyss, "Real men don't speak with words. They speak with action and power. If you can subdue me, I will listen to you. But remember, give it your all, or you might end up really injured."
Vhelgarr looked at his father with a resolute gaze and nodded his head. Since he couldn't orally explain himself, he would use his strength to prove to him how determined he didn't want him to accept the Staff of Garryshem.
Not expecting his son to quickly accept his proposal, he clenched his fist and said, "Very good."
Vhelgarr's mom saw this and simply shook her head. She wasn't going to stop them anyway. Besides, she wanted to see her son prove himself. She began to root for her son by cheering him up.
Vhelgarr nodded his head at his mom's cheers and faced his dad who smirked at him.
"I see that your mom already has a favourite to win the spar. Let's see if you are really up to the task." Thegarroth said while Vhelgarr nodded his head.
Looking at his father who was a towering, bulky beast of pure solid muscle—since he stood at a shocking height of seven feet and had large muscles that somehow sheened and gleamed in the radiance of the sun, making it seem like it were metal and not skin, Vhelgarr prepared his mind.
He knew how strong his father was, but in his last life, he was a killer of nations, a destroyer of grand and enormous, heaven-like cities and states. So, beating his father and making him change his mind should be very easy for him.
With a loud and terrifying groan that didn't come from his father, but from the muscles of his legs, Thegarroth dashed forward at a shocking speed and instantly sent out his fist at Vhelgarr once he appeared in front of him.
Vhelgarr, who wasn't expecting his father to be that fast, immediately put up a thick, radiant blue shield before him to block his father's punch.
BOOOM!!
Like a terrifying blast went off, the shield immediately shattered into millions of smithereens. While Thegarroth's fist, which seemed like an unstoppable furious projectile, cut through the air towards Vhelgarr's chest who immediately side-stepped to the left, narrowly evading the punch that sent off immense waves that caused a large pocket of air to burst like it were an actual explosion.
Immediately Vhelgarr dodged the punch, he instantly went into a squat and whipped out a leg which he swung in a counterclockwise manner, hoping to sweep his father off his feet and knock him out.
The sweep was so powerful that a gale that would blow off a human to a distance of twenty feet was generated.
However, this was nothing before his father who immediately shot forward like a comet, sliding on one knee against the extremely rough ground with the intent of punching Vhelgarr into next week.
His father was incredibly fast that he didn't have time to dodge and so could only quickly generate another shield to block his father's incoming raging fist.
KA-BOOM!!!
The shield instantly blew into pieces with an immense wave of dreadful power erupting out of it like an actual town-leveling explosion.
This struck into Vhelgarr with great destructive power such that he was knocked flying for hundreds of feet.
But this was only 0.5% of the total damaging power his father, Thegarroth, had. If he had put more into it, Vhelgarr would be surely knocked out of the kingdom.
Landing hundreds of feet away, Vhelgarr immediately recalled how unbelievably strong and powerful his father was. And that he was no longer the killer of nations. He was just someone with a memory of that.
Looking at his father from faraway with his sharp vision, he suddenly recalled how a single punch by his father at the air, obliterated hundreds to thousands of powerful warriors that came for them. With just a kick, the air churned and became an immense storm that swept through swathes of armies with an unbelievable obliterative power, reducing them and their blessed Hantickath armor to countless bits.
"This is going to be hard. I was so absorbed in my memories that I thought I was actually what I was in my last life. Beating my father who no one could beat back then but one of the Shickamanand Grand Emperors, will be so difficult." Vhelgarr said, looking at his father who only smirked and looked at his wife who was supporting his son.
Though he behaved like that, he actually wanted his son to beat him. He was the future heir to his throne and the powerhouse that his people would be able to rely on.
So, he truly wanted to see his son develop at a rapid pace that he would be able to actually beat him in a spar, given how strong, fast and marvelously powerful he was.
Also, it was for this reason that he challenged his son, with the indirect threat to injure him so that he could activate more of his potentials. Great, world-shaking potentials as told to them by a notable and trusted Seer of Severance.
Vhelgarr looked at his father who waited for his move from that distance that he was flung to by the explosive gale that erupted from his punch.
Recalling how he was killed that night by a Shickamanand Grand Emperor, who used a powerful and rare bloodslaughter scepter to invoke the ravaging power of the Limitless Blood Abyss, a certain hunger and rage for vengeance began to build up within him.
Then he looked over to his mother who still kept great hope for him in his spar against his extremely powerful dad.
He suddenly remembered how she died, trying to defend their kingdom against thousands of the brutal, Goldskin Tyrants of Chaos who she singlehandedly fought alone, killing huge numbers of them, despite how indestructible and tyrannical they looked.
He remembered her loud, sorrowful cries and tears to the heavens when her husband was killed, when lots of their armies were slain, before urging him and his little siblings to all leave so that she could end herself and take down huge amounts of their adversaries with her by using a supreme essence skill that she possessed.
Even then, she fought for so long just to buy them enough time to escape before becoming a huge tyrannical wave of unbridled destructive power that swept through their kingdom and many more, obliterating everything in its path to ashes.
Recalling all these, his rage and thirst for vengeance, including his will to protect them all more than tripled.
When the memory of his brothers being slain, and that of his sister being impaled by a sword flooded into his head, his anger surpassed the limit.
The air before him began to roil, becoming a storm that caused his father to furrow his brows in surprise.
The ground began to shake, causing the land the massive palace was on to tremble intensely.
With unbounded wrath erupting from his heart, he punched at the air in his father's direction.
Just as his fist was fully stretched out to deliver the punch, a black being that resided in a seemingly limitless dimension and had intensely glowing azure and violet eyes, suddenly swung them open, before closing them back in the next second.
Immediately, a massive, crescent-shaped wave of invisible azure energy that caused hundreds of pockets of air around him to instantly become huge, individual maelstroms of shocking speed and destructive power, abruptly erupted from his fist and shot towards his father...
