Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Just let me Die

Tears started back down his cheeks once again as he stared at his mom, the pain going all throughout his body as he began to drift off.

All of this just because we don't have the ability to use magic....? What kind of sick joke is this, why do people have to die just because they can't use magic.

After a little bit of time Theo got thrown into the room next to Mason, covered in cuts from all different blades and blood dripping down his face. "I'm sorry son... I won't let you die here though..." Dad says while extending his hand towards him.

A small crystal like object in his hand begins to glow with a bright green light before Mason suddenly disappears from the room. Fwooosh. Within a matter of moments he was gone and in a random room with no idea on what happened to him.

His wound was still pretty serious so he didn't really have the strength to move or to do anything for that matter.

Mom....Dad... Why couldn't you just let me die with you...

I don't want to live in a world without you guys, it's the only world I know. Step. Step. Someone could be heard approaching him before a voice is finally heard. "I was finally called in it seems." A woman's voice could be heard.

I turned my head slightly to see a woman with long blue hair, elf ears, green eyes, and she appeared to have some sort of robes on.

My ability to speak wasn't really there anymore and all I could feel was this pain in my stomach. Everything I know is gone, I don't have my family anymore so what am I supposed to do.

A magic circle formed from her hand and began to heal his wound as she continues to talk. "I'll introduce myself when you can talk again but for now, everything will be okay. I'm sorry for the death of your family." The Woman says with a bit of sadness in her voice.

Mason passed out as the wounds close up, he didn't really know how to feel about the whole situation since he got sent away. His dad saved his life but he couldn't even stop the person who killed his mom.

A day goes by since everything happened to Mason and his family.

Gasp. Huff. Huff. He jumped awake in a panic as he grabbed his stomach.

They really are dead, I don't know how to handle this all yet. My knowledge of the actual world is very little and I don't even know what I should do now. Would it be smart for me to get revenge on those who killed my family?

I can do that, but I also need to send a clear message that non magic users belong in this world too.

The door opens up and the woman from before can be seen. "I'm glad you're finally awake. We have a lot to talk about." The Woman says.

I sat there for quite a few hours as the woman explained the way of the world to me, alongside what my dad really was to everyone. He couldn't use magic but somehow obtained the title of legendary magus.

She also told me her name is Lucy, it seems I have someone else to somewhat rely on for the time being. My dad apparently met her during one of his missions and saved her life. The knights wanted to execute her for some unjust reason but he didn't allow it to happen.

They became good friends and then later on he asked her for a favor if we were ever discovered. I'm understanding why I got sent here now, it still doesn't sit right with me though.

Having to watch my parents die before my eyes is something I'll never be able to forget no matter how long I live.

"You want to avenge your family and I'm all for it but maybe it should be on the scale your father was going for." Lucy speaks while looking towards the window.

Does she possibly know what I'm thinking about doing?

"I want to avenge them but I also want to send a message that we aren't some problem in this world." Mason responds while standing up from the bed.

There's so much I have to do to get better before I can challenge them, yet I feel like this is the best approach. Mom wouldn't want me to let hatred consume me no matter what so I need to do this the right way.

Rather, I need to try to do this the right way. Something in me doesn't agree with this approach but for now it's the only one I got in my head.

"It's definitely smart so we should work on making you stronger than." Lucy suggests with a smile.

"Anything to accomplish this." Mason says while clenching his fist.

Lucy also told me that my dad used all sorts of ancient methods and devices to mimic the aspects of magic so that he never got caught. He also managed to make his own devices that used some sort of trigger if he found someone to imbue the item with magic.

My dad was a lot smarter than I thought he was but I wonder if I'll be able to do something similar.

"Once you're ready I'll tell you about an artifact that could definitely help you become powerful but only when you are ready." Lucy says while heading back towards the door.

I'll become powerful enough to stop anyone who gets in my way of making things right in this world. Dad, Mom, I'll make this right for us.

A serious look was on his face but he couldn't help but feel determined to get stronger. Mason knew what he had to do now no matter what.

I'll become the legendary magus no matter what and with that kind of title, I'll change the world.
