Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Just let me Explain

After a bit of time walking back they made it to the treehouse without any issues. Aria seemed to be distracted by the scenery of the world since she had been trapped for an unknown amount of time.

Everything was basically brand new to her so she took it all in without any hesitation. Realizing how beautiful everything was and she was even in awe at the sight of the treehouse.

It was a beautiful structure with multiple catwalks going to different parts of the house and appeared to blend in quite well with the other trees.

Aria catches up to Mason with and begins to speak with a bit of excitement in her voice. "I can't believe this is where you live, this place is awesome and it's definitely quite the sight." Aria exclaims while staring at the treehouse.

I don't know what she's used to seeing so I'm glad that this is something exciting for her to experience. I'm still curious how Lucy is going to take this all since I didn't expect to bring someone back with me.

Aria doesn't seem all that dangerous though so maybe it won't be a big deal to introduce her to Lucy. I'm going to need more allies if I plan to make a difference in this world anyway right?

Dad had allies like Lucy in the shadows here, so it would only make sense for me to make some of my own.

Upon entering the treehouse they could see Lucy sitting at the dining table reading some sort of book. Her eyes immediately darted up to meet the gaze of the two of them. "So you made it to the cave without any problems and managed to come back with someone new." Lucy speaks without any sort of shock in her voice.

It feels as if she knew that the girl was the artifact or thing I was looking for when she sent me there. Maybe she wanted me to free this girl for some reason.

"Yes, did you know that there wasn't an artifact?" Mason asks with a bit of confusion in his voice.

Lucy ponders for a few moments while the two of them stand there confused, then she decides to speak. "I knew someone was there but I didn't exactly know who was there. They are quite powerful, I know that much." Lucy responds while looking towards the window.

Someone who's powerful and there's no artifact? The point of finding this thing was so that I could become even stronger but a companion isn't the end of the world. It's not the worst thing, just I need to get stronger and create even more powerful devices.

Aria is pretty and she seems like she'll help out a lot, just she doesn't remember anything from her past so that'll be a problem for her.

"Either way I'm happy I was taken out of that place." Aria chimes in with a smile on her face.

Lucy turns her gaze towards Aria as she speaks. "I would be too, it's not a situation anyone would want to be in. It still is quite an interesting situation for you, we don't know if this was good or bad yet." Lucy speaks with a bit of a serious tone in her voice.

We don't know if she's secretly trying to destroy the world or if she's some demon lords daughter, there's a lot of mystery to her. Over time I hope to discover all of the secrets about her since we'll be traveling together.

Aria scratches her head and then takes a seat at the table. "I have no bad intentions in my head, just confused on where my memories went or if they'll ever return." Aria replies with a bit of sadness in her voice.

I'm sure having no memory isn't the best, it's almost like having no life whatsoever since you can't remember having anything. It's like being born into the world at the age 16 with nothing ever happening in your life.

I think I know what I'm saying there but either way it's an awful experience.

The three of them sat at the table for awhile talking about the world since Aria needed to know what the world was like. It was a lot for her at first but then she began to understand how it works again.

Mason just tinkered with his device as Lucy and Aria continued on with their conversations. He was focused on making it stronger than it is since it'll be his trump card in any major fighting situation.

I know I'll be able to fight physically since I'm not weak or anything like that but to be able to block magic attacks would be huge. Granted, this device does have some offensive capabilities but it's not the best yet.

I'm surprised it was even able to break the chains without any issues. The crystal that's fused inside does generate magic throughout the device or replicates magic in a way so that's the closest I'll ever get to magic.

I don't really know how I'll become known as this legendary magus when people might already have a bounty on my head. Staying in this continent may not be the best idea at some point soon.

Lucy told me a week ago that not every continent is for the law of executing non magic users so maybe it's best to see which one is safe.

"Mason? Mason?" Lucy calls out.

Leaving his train of thought he looks back up from his device. "Yes, what'd I miss?" He questions.

"I forgot to mention to you that heroes are a thing of this world, yes the legendary magus holds huge status over them but they are each on a different continent." Lucy answers and begins to explain.

Heroes? I figured Adventurers are a thing so why didn't I think about heroes? What makes them special though, if everyone can use magic?

A lot of questions with no answers yet.
