Chapter 30 - Chapter 30 Conversation

Light saw Dumbledore appear directly in the office. A hint of doubt flashed in his eyes. Was it the Disillusionment Charm or Apparition?

"I used a little privilege to avoid being late!" As if seeing Light's doubt, Dumbledore said, raising his right hand and showing a tiny gap between his index finger and thumb as he spoke.

"Professor, can you read my mind?" Light fully activated Occlumency, constructing defenses with false memories.

"I think any wizard would be suspicious of someone who appears suddenly!" Dumbledore didn't answer directly.

"That's true! You're really something, Professor!" Light looked extremely obsequious on the surface, but was silently grumbling in his heart.

"What privilege? Is it the privilege to Apparate at any time?"

"Come, sit down! Don't stand there all the time." Dumbledore motioned for Light to sit down, then began to take out various candies from the drawer and placed them on the table.

"Do you want some Cockroach Clusters? Or some new-flavor Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans!" As soon as Light sat down, Dumbledore put a pile of candies in front of him.

"Okay! Thank you!" Light politely took a Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Bean and started eating it, not even giving the Cockroach Clusters a glance.

'Orange flavor, not bad,' Light thought as he chewed the bean in his mouth.

"Can you tell me the specific process of what happened?" Dumbledore poured Light a glass of water and asked with a smile.

"Sure! Before the Halloween feast started, I didn't see Hermione. Then I found out that Ron had hurt Hermione. Coincidentally, Professor Quirrell said that the Troll had escaped."

"I wanted to challenge the Troll. Harry Potter and the others thought I was going to find Hermione, so they came along. Ron said that girls would hide in the bathroom when they were sad. I planned to find Hermione first and then challenge the Troll. Unexpectedly, I just happened to meet it!"

Light told the whole story of what happened tonight without hiding anything. After all, everything was reasonable and well-founded.

The only trouble was that he knew so many lethal Dark Magics. Would he be executed as the second Dark Lord?

"I know about the subsequent battle. Professor Snape has a very high opinion of you. Calm and decisive, but your spell accuracy isn't very good."

"I also agree with his view. You are really excellent."

Being praised by Dumbledore, Light suddenly felt a bit uneasy. Judging from this situation, was he going to be dragged in to be Harry Potter's firefighter?

The conversation that followed became even more relaxed. There wasn't much probing, just like a casual chat between an elder and a younger person.

But Light didn't let down his guard. The old man in front of him was the most powerful in the wizarding world, a ruthless person who had schemed against two generations of Dark Lords in a row.

Sure enough, during the subsequent chat, Dumbledore mentioned 'Wood's Orphanage'. Light pretended not to know what Dumbledore was driving at and continued to feign ignorance.

"Does Professor also know about the orphanage? The people in the orphanage are very easy to get along with. Especially Mrs. Cott, she is the kindest person in the orphanage."

"Yes, there was a student at Hogwarts before who grew up there. But he wasn't as outstanding as you in his first year."

"Maybe I didn't pay enough attention to him, which led him astray."

Dumbledore let out a soft sigh, like an ordinary old man reminiscing about the past.

Hearing this, Light showed an awkward smile, but in his heart, he was mumbling to himself, "If I didn't know that senior was Voldemort, I might have really believed what you said about regretting it."

"Did you encounter anything strange when you were in the orphanage...?"

Dumbledore probed a few more times. After finding nothing, he changed the topic and didn't continue asking.

After chatting for a while longer, Dumbledore checked the time on some excuse and then said to Light with a smile, "It's getting late, my boy. It's time to go back!"

After bidding farewell to Dumbledore with a smile, Light got up and left.

Dumbledore, sitting in the chair, tapped the table with the fingers of his right hand. Looking at Light's departing back, his gaze seemed to become deeper, and it was unclear what he was thinking.

"I passed this test. From now on, I have to be more careful and not let old Dumbledore catch me out." On the way back to the dormitory, Light determined his next course of action.

When he returned to the Gryffindor common room, Light, who often engaged in wandering at night, keenly noticed something was wrong. "It's too dark and too quiet." It wasn't usually like this!

Light walked on with an impassive face, his right hand ready to take out his wand at any moment for a Pili Baozha.

"Welcome to the hero of our Gryffindor, ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh!" The dark common room suddenly lit up, and Light was so startled that he almost used his magic.

Then dozens of young wizards rushed out. Egged on by Harry Potter and Ron, they lifted Light up and tossed him high into the air.

"Cheer for the hero of our Gryffindor!" the Weasley twins shouted in unison!

"Hero! Hero!" The young wizards chanted as they tossed Light back and forth.

After the excitement, Light, who was dizzy from being tossed around, only understood what had happened here after Harry Potter's explanation. He was being called away by old Dumbledore to chat at that time.

Thanks to Ron's spreading the news, the young wizards in Gryffindor learned that Light had confronted the Troll head-on and even killed it.

If Light hadn't killed the Troll, the Halloween feast couldn't have been held. If the feast couldn't be held, Halloween would be ruined. And if Halloween was ruined, it would be a lifelong regret!

Thanks to Ron's continuous spreading, this comical chain of reasoning spread throughout Gryffindor. The young wizards directly regarded Light as the hero of Gryffindor and even held a welcome party for him.

The energetic young wizards kept making a ruckus, as if they wanted to vent the fear that had suddenly arisen from the evacuation.

It wasn't until the middle of the night that the prefects started to urge everyone to go back to rest, and then the young wizards calmed down and returned to their respective rooms.

As one of the main characters in this incident, Light dealt with many curious young wizards after the welcome party ended. He told them several times how he killed the Troll.

Light, Harry Potter, and the others returned to their room. Exhausted, they collapsed onto their beds and quickly fell asleep.

"So sleepy, so tired, and I really want to sleep!" Light rubbed his aching eyes and slowly got out of bed, waking everyone in the room up to get ready for class.

During Professor McGonagall's class, Light was specifically called out. But it wasn't praise; instead, it was criticism. Professor McGonagall stated that in such a situation, he should have informed the professors first and not taken rash actions on his own.

Light nodded repeatedly. "This time, I only happened to defeat the Troll by luck. Ordinary young wizards, don't follow my example."

Seeing that Light was so sensible, Professor McGonagall didn't dwell on it any further and started the class.

After class, as Light and his group were walking along the corridor, people came to greet them. After spreading throughout the night, almost everyone knew the news that Light had killed the Troll, and the story became more and more exaggerated.

As a result, no matter where Light went, people would whisper about him, and The Library was no exception. This even got Light 'ushered' out by Madam Pince, the librarian.
