Chapter 11 - Chapter 10

As the new Fissure variant slowly approaches, Kairo tries not to move, as he fears a sudden move would surely get him killed. His hand being blocked from his blade that sat on the ground beside him.

"You're worthless..." The fissure repeated as it got closer.

"You never should've been born!" The Fissure's lodged tendril pulls from the ground as it repeats itself again.

However, as it holds the tendril aimed at Kairo's face, it stops and turns its attention towards another person entering the area.

As Kairo looks over at the house, his sister comes barreling out the door. Taking the attention of the Fissure.

"Kairo! What the hell is all the noise for?" Nasaki shouts as she gets ready to walk over to him.

Kairo raises his left hand and shouts.

"Nasaki! Go back inside now!" He demanded with fear in his voice.

"The hell did you say to me, you little—!" Nasaki screams before suddenly having her voice cut off.

Kairo's eyes widen as the Fissure wraps one of its tendrils around Nasaki's neck and begins raising her off the ground, slowly starting to strangle her.

"W-What the hell is this?!" Nasaki questions as she struggles to speak.

Kairo felt his body yelling at him, even the sword that's at his feet as well. Telling him to go. But a deeper, more rooted part of his brain kept him in place.

"You'll never live up to her expectations. You'll never be the hero you think you can be. In the end you'll just be the one who did nothing." A voice spoke around Kairo as he continued watching his sister being strangled.

His body shook as his inner self conflicted.

"She'll die and always remember the failure you turned out to be." The voice spoke again.

Causing Kairo to grab his head and fold into himself.

"No! No! This can't be happening!" Kairo shouted openly as he continued feeling his raveled self tightening.

"Do you really believe you were the one, a bored high school kid given a step into a whole new world? Did you really believe you were supposed to walk this path?" The voice mocked Kairo as he continued whining.

"I-I just wanted to help Masako! I didn't want him to die!" Kairo shouted in tears.

Causing another person to appear before him and grab him by his hair, jerking his head up as he comes face to face with an undead Masako. Mocking him with Kairo's own voice.

"You're the reason I'm dead; had you just run, I would still be alive." Masako stated as he threw Kairo backwards just by his hair alone.

Kairo landed on his back as Masako approached him.

"Tell me, Kairo Neru, Are you ready to watch your sister die?" Masako asked with an evil grin on his face.

Masako steps out of the way and forces Kairo's head off the ground to take a look at his sister. Her body shaking as her final breath draws near.

"Watch, watch as I take her life right before your eyes." Masako exclaims as he smiles viciously. However, as Masako spoke, something sparked within Kairo's eyes as he came to a realization.

Then suddenly his body reacted on its own, as he gripped hold of his sword in his left hand. He bashed the butt of his handle into Masako's face, allowing his head to move freely. His body positioned itself into a sprinter stance with his hands on his sword's handle. Then with a boost to his legs, his speed sent him in a flash.

Vanishing from all seeing eyes and instantly reappearing behind the Fissure with his unconscious sister in his arms. Her neck was bruised, but her breathing was present. However, like his lightning movement, the thunder came quickly after. As the Fissure screeches in its distorted male voice. Its tendrils slapped against the ground as they were butchered off its body.

Kairo gently putting down his sister before turning around with his sword held in his right hand. Only partially facing The Fissure and Masako.

"H-How did you—." Masako asked as he shivered in fear.

Kairo ignored the illusion and dashed swiftly towards the Fissure as it leaped like a rabid animal at Kairo. In an attempt to get in one last attack. But as its jaw opened wide, Kairo began positioning his body to step left but feinted swiftly to the right in a streak. Appearing behind the Fissure once again, this time his sword covered in blood.

All he could do was stand face-to-face with Masako, not even turning around to check on the actual Fissure itself.

"Never, and I mean never. Touch the ones I love." Kairo declares as he watches Masako's illusion start to vanish into ash like the blood on his sword.

However, as the illusion's head is nearly gone. It relays one last thing from its mouth in another attempt to shake up Kairo.

"I wonder if your little friend will have the same luck as you..." Masako's illusion spouts before completely turning to ash and floating away.

"Little... friend?" Kairo questioned, but before he could continue thinking about it, he heard Nasaki cough a bit. Forcing him to rush to her.

"Nasaki! Nasaki! Are you alright?!" Kairo questioned with worry as he held her head off the ground.

She was still unconscious but breathing.

"My, my, did my eyes deceive me? Did you manage to kill a Flytrap Fissure all by yourself?" A familiar female voice snickered behind Kairo.

Kairo quickly looked back to see Chirashi reappearing like usual.

"Chirashi, I—."

"I already know, don't you worry." Chirashi interrupted as she crouched beside Kairo.

"Here, hand her over to me. I'll heal her neck; she should be fine afterwards." Chirashi asked as she pulled up her kimono's sleeves.

Without hesitating, Kairo gently moved Nasaki over into Chirashi's arms.

"Shuzen letter H, Hospitality." As Chirashi chanted her spell, her hands began to radiate with green energy.

As her hands touched Nasaki's wound, the bruising started to ease up before completely vanishing.

"W-What was that?" Kairo asked, surprised at Chirashi's Shuzen technique.

"One of many spells Sentarii are taught... She should be alright now. I'm sure if you get her tucked into bed, she'll wake up and think all of this was nothing but a dream." Chirashi, she states as she stands up and looks off in another direction.

"T-Thank you..."

"Don't thank me yet; you still have work to do." Chirashi, she says as she walks over to Kairo's phone and picks it up.

"-and if you don't hurry, you may actually lose someone." Chirashi says with a serious look in her eyes as she holds Kairo's phone at him.
